SERDANG, Jan 28 – The government has agreed to increase the duty allowance of Rela volunteers by RM2 per hour, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
As a caring administration, Najib said, the government would care for the welfare of all.
“I’ve discussed this with (Home Minister) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and the Home Ministry secretary-general (Tan Sri Mahmood Adam)… the application by Rela can be approved at once,” he said.
The prime minister was addressing a Rela assembly at Maeps Hall, here, attended by about 30,000 personnel from throughout the country.
It is understood that the existing duty allowance for Rela volunteers are RM5.80 per hour for officers and RM4 for other ranks.
The new rate takes effect soon.
